The project, titled "Strengthening Health Systems to Provide Life-Saving Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Nutrition Services," aimed to address critical challenges in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) within Sierra Leone's Pujehun and Port Loko districts. It sought to mitigate alarming maternal and child mortality rates by enhancing health infrastructure, boosting healthcare delivery capacity, and fostering community-driven health education and engagement.
The project aims to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality by improving access to quality healthcare services. It focuses on strengthening emergency referral systems to ensure timely care for high-risk pregnancies and neonatal emergencies. Additionally, the project seeks to foster sustainable health system improvements by aligning its interventions with national health priorities, such as the RMNCAH Strategy (2017–2030).
